This round shaped bread with its golden top is usually prepared with dates as they are used either to sweeten the bread while the some uses saffron or turmeric to bring the flavor and colour to this bread.The original recipe which i got for dishing out this khameer used eggs. But i skipped completely the eggs here. This popular Emirati treat can be enjoy plain or eaten with honey, though this bread is usually enjoyed with cheese. You can also stuff this khameer bread with cream, nuts and dates for sweet stuffings while falafel, cheese, labneh or black olives can be stuffed for savory ones. My theme for this Mega marathon is A-Z International Flatbreads, obviously my today’s post starts with the alphabet ‘E’ hence here comes the traditional flavoursome rich Emirati Khameer Bread.

2cups Wheat flour
2cups All purpose four
1tbsp Instant yeast
1/2cup Milk powder
1tsp Fennel powder
1tsp Cardamom powder
Sesame seeds (as per need)
Take the wheat flour, all purpose flour, sugar, powder milk, fennel powder, cardamom powder, salt and yeast.
Add the oil,luke warm water to the flour mixture and knead everything well until the dough turns smooth and soft.
Arrange the dough in a greased bowl and keep aside for an hour.
Divide the dough to 6-7 balls and roll each ball as medium sized disc.
Warm a ungreased frying pan, drop the rolled disc and cook in simmer.
When it starts to bubble, brush the top with water and sprinkle sesame over it.
When the bread begins to swell, flip ad cook on both sides until the bread gets cooked.
Continue the process with the remaining dough.
Serve with cream cheese, black olives and chopped pistachios.
