Phool Makhana aka puffed lotus seeds, its looks like popcorn is a good source of protein, carbohydrates, fibre, magnesium, potassium, iron and zinc. High in fibre and low in calories, its enables weight loss. Makhana seeds can be eaten raw, roasted  or ground. The puffed seeds are also used in some Indian sweets liks kheer, puddings and dry roasted snacks. Makhana Phool is also known as foxnut, makhana or gorgon plant. Basically phool makhana belongs to a family called ‘lilly’. Lillly is a flowering plant, that produces starchy white seeds and those seeds are purely edible. This plant is generally cultivated in low land areas of Indian, china and Japan.These countries have been cultivating this plant since many years to get the seeds. This plant is very well ready in its locations with dry and hot summers and even in cold winters. These seeds can be eaten raw, boiled or cooked in Indian cuisine.Seeds are collected in late summers and before autumn. These seeds are commonly used as fried or roasted, they get popped up like popcorn. Am running this week’s blogging marathon with Make an Indian Sweet as theme, hence i picked to dish out some laddoos.

Makhana laddoos, Puffed lotus Seeds Laddoos

To add more healthy stuffs in a simple puffed lotus seeds, i couldnt stop myself adding some edible gum, which is an another interesting addition to this extremely delicious. Rolled with ghee, these makhana laddoos are definitely a fabulous sweet to serve and enjoy with your loved one. I conserved them in an air tightened box and keep in room temperature. These laddoos stays prefect for more than a week, yes but trust me they are seriously very addictive and you can just keep yourself away from them. Am running this week’s blogging marathon with Make one type of Sweets as theme for this week’s theme. And i picked Laddoos as the sweets for this week’s theme, i will be posting three different laddoos and one among those is this Makhana Goond Ka Laddoos.

Puffed lotus seeds laddoos, Makhana laddoos

4cups Puffed lotus seeds/Phool Makhana
3tbsp Edible Gum
1cup Sugar
1/2cup Ghee
3nos Green cardamoms

Grind together the sugar and cardamoms as fine powder.

Meanwhile dry roast the puffed lotus seeds in simmr for few minutes.

Heat few drops of ghee and add the edible gum /Goond until they gets well fried.

Grind the puffed lotus seeds and edible as bit coarse powder and add now with already powdered sugar-cardamom mixture.

Heat the ghee and add gradually to the puffed lotus seeds-sugar mixture and turns them as round shaped balls…

Arrange them in air tightened box.

Stay prefect for a week in room temperature.
