Onion kachori is known as pyaaz ki kachori, and this dish is quite a fabulous snack dish. Though this stuffed snack supposed to have their origins from Uttar Pradesh or Rajasthan, now these kachoris are quite famous around India. Kachoris are often served with chutneys made with tamarind, mint or coriander. The most popular Kachori is made with yellow moongdal or urad dal spiced with red chilly powder and few more spices. Kachori stuffed with green peas is quite known in Bengali cuisine as well. However kachoris do exists in Sweet version also. Mawa kachori is one of the delightful sweet kachori which is very popular in Jodhpur and this kachori is dipped in sugar syrup. Do you know Kachoris are also known very much in Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana and Suriname.

Onion Riceflakes Kachori, Pyaaz Poha Kachori

Am running this week’s blogging marathon with Stuffed dishes as theme. After two interesting stuffed dishes, my today’s post goes to this onion and rice flakes stuffed kachori. If you love onions as stuffing in your parathas or in your samosas, an another Indian street food, trust me you will go crazy if you eat this kachoris. Simple to make these deepfried stuffed kachoris, these cuties will definitely please your tastebuds. A must to try if you want to treat yourself with some fried beauties. Kids will enjoy thoroughly this ultimate flaky kachoris with their favourite sauces. Dont forget to dish some mint chutney if you want to enjoy these crispies as much as in a traditional way. We loved these kachoris especially the filling, yes its tastes simply amazing.

Pyaaz Poha Kachori

1cup All purpose flour/Maida
1cup Whole wheat flour
1/4tsp Baking powder
1/4tsp Cumin seeds
2tbsp Oil
Salt
Oil for deepfrying

For filling:
3 Onions (chopped)
1/2cup Red rice flakes (soaked & drained)
1tsp Coriander powder
2nos Green chillies (chopped)
1/2tsp Red chilly powder
1/2tsp Amchur powder
1/2tsp Cumin powder
Few coriander leaves (chopped)
1/2tsp Garam masala powder
Salt
Oil

Heat few drops of oil, saute the onions for a while.

Add the coriander powder,chopped green chillies,red chilly powder, amchur powder,cumin powder,garam masala powder,chopped coriander leaves, salt together in a bowl.

Finally add the drained red rice flakes and saute everything for a while. Put off the stove.

Meanwhile knead a soft and stiff dough with maida,wheat flour,cumin seeds, baking powder,oil and water and keep aside for half an hour.

Make medium sized rolls from the dough and roll gently with the rolling pin.

Now place the prepared onion filling in the center of the rolled dough.

Cover the filling with the dough by slowly stretching it over the filling.

Seal the ends and remove excess dough,roll gently again with rolling pin.

Meanwhile heat some oil for deep frying,fry the kachoris in batch in medium high flame.

Cook for about 6 to 10 minutes till they gets a golden brown.

Serve and enjoy warm.
